Need to parse XML api response on cloud or convert it to json

Can anyone help here, I need to convert an xml api response to json on cloud and i do tried the DOM parsing technique, data.xmlToJSON.toJson(apiResponse), xml2js but none of them are working on the cloud platform. It is very urgent in order to get the responses configured for the bot.
Anyone update on this!
The api response gives me an xml string.
